Literature Text

weighing on my shoulders, the cloth falls, stretches to ground
heavy coarse fabric to seal out the gray cold winds
muddied boots these paths have tread before
leaning, brow resting on the steely capped staff
cool metal and wood reinforce the peace and deteriminations of my mind
the ever-advocate of the journey, the becoming.
in time, these words my very counsel to others
grateful souls who have for a time shared my view
then out, their own paths to travel
so many nights sharing the fire then up again in the morning
my wings ache.. tucked so far into my back that they bite the skin
self-consiously tucking torn sleeves over the uneven skin of my arms
the tell-tale prickling of another change coming
should they see them.. known for the truth in myself
they would not understand...
appearances have never mattered, not in they way they do for others..
seen too much in the hearts of the world weary lovers, the knights
seen too much in the cruel jesters wicked taunting parody
so under my cover, traveling again...
muscles tight from walking
another 40k the sign seems to delight in the grim news
gathering sickly green-grey of storm on the horizon
pausing to gaze at the half yet living tree forcing its way to the hidden sun
above the barren soil, the broken life skittering about..
haunted and in fear of death, even the tiniest denizen of this place fights for life
foot in front of foot I breath in the day, the moisture of the coming rain
moving even so much closer to my next moment, still wondering what it will bring...
a story... or a poem.. that is just a beginning..
